breaking news in the east bay. police have swarmed the scene of two deadly right now at 11:00, we're following breaking news in east bay. police have swarmed the scenes of two deadly shootings. one at a father killed outside his home. good evening and thanks for being with us. >> we start with the deadly shooting in union landing in union city. one person dead and at least two others hurt and several are being questioned by police.

cheryl, what do we know at this point? >> reporter: well, right now it's still a very active scene. the shooting happened around 9:30 this afternoon. let's take -- it was chaos when police arrived tonight around 9:30. several rounds fired into this black car. one person in that car shot and killed. let's take a look at the videotape that came into our newsroom tonight. you can see the fire power that caused all of this damage. there is a movie theater to my right and a texas road house restaurant to my left. so a lot of people were in this parking lot when the shooting happened. three people were involved, two victims taken to a local hospital. police have detained three people tonight. the chief tells me he's not certain about their role in this shooting but one detective tells me tonight that all evidence points that they were involved in this shooting. and again the shooting happened

about 9:30 tonight. you can see the black car was shot up. a man killed in that car, two other people taken to a local hospital. three people have been detained. these detectives will be here most of the night gathering all the information. if we get an update, we'll bring it to you tonight. i'm cheryl hurd. want to tell you about another shooting. police say the father of a 9-year-old was shot outside his house near castro valley high. they believe he could be the victim of a drive-by shooting. neighbors called police after they heard the gun shots. >> our victim, from what we understand is a hard working person. he has a daughter. the daughter and other family members were inside the home. he came outside the house and

that's when he was shot. >> so far no suspects, no information on the car that came by. we're also tracking breaking news in south america. a plane carrying a brazilian soccer team has crashed on its way to a columbian airport. the flight had 72 passengers on board, many soccer players. the flight departed bolivia and it's about 2:00 a.m. in clum o a columbia. early reports suggest there are six survivors and a lack of fuel might have been the cause of the crash. these are preliminary reports. this is a different flight. they were on their way to play the final match of the copa south america cup in columbia. stay with nbc bay area news for the latest on these breaking stories. and we'll update our website through the night, nbcbayarea.com. well, thanksgiving meal

mystery. four people dead, five others sick. contra costra county health officials say they may have their suspicions but may never actually know the source. in antioch where one victim is still recovering. this is confusing because they're saying it may not be connected to the thanksgiving dinner. >> reporter: that's true. all eight victims were taken here in antioch. health officials have gone to the survivors, interviewed them, tested them trying to find the source. but this case takes so many twists and turns, it may remain a mystery. more than 800 people ate a free dinner here on 6th street in antioch. on saturday, three hospitalized. >> we have no indication. if it is a food born illness. but based on symptoms like nausea, diarrhea, that's what it usually is.

>> reporter: the dinner was sponsored by golden hills community church. some was brought in and some was cooked here that hall. >> when we talked about food safety techniques they used, they all sounldded appropriate. >> reporter: they all lived in the same facility and it may have started there. they'rer looking for more victims. we found a man who says he ate at the legion hall thursday night. >> i woke up with horrible cramps, terrible stomach ache and i had to run to the bathroom. >> reporter: and when he heard three fellow diners are dead. >> i'm so lucky to be alive. >> reporter: some causes have been ruled out, such as noro virus. >> it rules out particular bacterial illnesses that take i.

>> reporter: these health officials are going to see if there's any connection. live in antioch. you probably don't need us to tell you this. it's cold and getting colder. let's take a peek outside. this is a live look at dublin. the tri-valley dropping into the 30s this evening. >> we're seeing cool temperatures radar dry, wind speeds picking up in the north bay. and that's actually helping to keep temperatures up. a different story. this area in dark blue where the winds are light. livermore 11 degrees cooler than the same time yesterday and already down to 38. and dublin by day break tomorrow morning. waking up in the mid to upper 30s. south bay temperatures might not get quite as cold. we're expecting low 30s for

tomorrow morning and even colder nights are ahead in the forecast. you might be surprised by the lack of rainfall. a look at that in 10 minutes. stay ahead of this cold and wet weather with our free nbc bay area app. it's a good way to get your own personalized forecast and you can get access to our live doppler radar. a man who exposed him stoseo a young girl around 4:00 next to st. frances drake high school. a man drove up beside a 13-year-old girl and asked her for directions and then police say he exposed himself. the girl quickly ran away. this comes a week afterf a similar crime happened just a few blocks away. an emotional night in south sanfrancisco. a police officer remains in critical condition. he was injured by a skateboard. they say this father of two has a long recovery ahead.

nbc bay area jean with the latest. >> reporter: raj, here in south city there is a lot of concern for the officer. they have lit up city hall in blue in his honor and organized a candle lite vigil. they say so many want to help the officer and the department. >> i say to you please, please continue to pray and i thank you so much for supporting our family and supporting my brother. >> reporter: a tearful chon tells people outside the police department that her brother is in critical condition with a serious head injury. the 12-year veteran is married with two young sons. >> i want to assure them that everything will be okay and that

their dad is going to be safe as well. he has a long road ahead of him. >> reporter: police say 28-year-old luis alberto hit chon in the head with a skateboard on thanksgiving day as they were trying to arrest him on grand avenue. when the motorcycle officer opened his eyes days after the attack, he asked about his bike. >> after wiping away his tears i comforted him to let him know his motorcycle was safe. we brought his motorcycle helmet to his room and for the first time since his violent ordeal i saw him crack a smile. >> reporter: a hospital room story dozens of south city residents came to hear and it shows support for an aching department. >> we all need try to unify a little bit here because it's really important. the job that this police department does is really important. >> reporter: city leaders say

they will be making blue light bulbs available to anyone on a front porch to show support for the department and officer chon. and ramirez is facing a long list of felony charges including attempted murder. he's being held on $2 million bail. >> thank you, jean. well, close but not close enough. sheriff's deputies continue to track two men who busted out of the santa clara county jail last week. they have been on the run since wednesday when they cut through a second story window at the jail. they surrounded and raided the days inn in gilroy. they say chavez was at that motel shortly before the raid. officers arrested two women and a man now being questioned. these are the two suspects. officers say if you see them, don't confront them. just call 911. an effort to have a memorial

built is gaining momentum. police shot alex nieto. they say they fired when he poented a taser and refused to drop it. the family disagreed with the department's account. and they will consider an ordinance to build a memorial in his honor. they say it would help begin the healing process. >> this would be a positive step, not only for our community but for the city of san francisco. to repair these broken ties. >> board of supervisors is expected to consider the memorial at a meeting next month. how one police department is using technology to help fight holiday crime. and a fiery engine force as japan. bound jet to head back to sfo.

temperatures have already dropped off in the 30s. san francisco right now. you can see the view clearly. san jose dry and over to dublin we'll show you the tri-valley. the winds have clear, rains are light. and really the 680 corridor. and eastward to livermore. we'll eprobably find the cooles temperatures. 49 in downtown and you would think the north bay should be the coldest in the bay area. we have winds keeping more mild air evenly mixed into the valley. so we're not quite as cold yet compared to what we're seeing in livermore. we're going to look at numbers in the mid-30s. less wind before dawn in the north bay. now for the afternoon, pretty

decent temperature recovery. close to 60 in san jose with sunshine and a bit of a breeze out of the northwest from 10 to 15 miles per hour. and danville and dublin for the morning and highs in the low 50s. 59 around concord. peninsula, temperatures in the upper 50s, mostly sunny skies. no fog in the forecast. we'll see highs in the upper 50s. a bit of a breeze out of the northwest which will make it feel a bit cooler outside during the day tomorrow. for the north bay, morning temperatures, upper 30s and low 40s. highs close to 60. mostly clear and chilly. the air flow is now dryer out of the north. we have the system oo trying to come through on wednesday and if you noticed at the bottom of the screen, san francisco has a slight chance of showers but

the union city police department. he says police have been having problems with side show activities in this area. they were also here tonight. a police supression unit was here tonight and they heard the gun fire. rushed over and they saw this. one person dead, two injured. now, witness told them about a suspect vehicle and police stopped the car not far from here and was able to take three people into custody. one person was stopped near the freeway and that person was shot and taken on the hospital. a ulalso in that car was a woma. i believe that female was not shot. so there's a lot of moving parts out here tonight. but the problem with the side show activities, a big problem in union city and not only union setty but other cities in the bay area. the holiday, time and that's why
